Tenerife is the largest of the Spanish seven sub-tropical Canary Islands (Las Islas Canarias) which are located 110 km off the Atlantic coast of North Africa. Dominated by Pico del Teide, which at over 12,000 ft or 3718m is Spain's highest peak, Tenerife is, like the other Canary Islands, formed from volcanic rock.
